I WENT TO THE OUTLETS. Those five words tell the story, for how can you take a bus to Woodbury Common and not return with bulging shopping bags? I was restrained. I bought some gifts (which is allowed). I thought twice about things that previously I would have snapped up in seconds. I bought nothing that I did not want to wear immediately (“no saving” is part of my new wardrobe mantra). I think outlet shopping is a bit like greasy/sugary fast food for the weight watcher. If you enter Dunkin’ Donuts, you are unlikely to get out without damage. I just read in the New York Times that teenage girls and women in their 20s actually make videos, viewable on YouTube, in which they show off their shopping loot! So I am not going to regale you with details of my new and unutterably cute jacket.
